This is after it rescued Mr. Benson Wanjau Karira, popularly known as Mjee Ojwang, one of the pioneers of Kenya’s TV comedy who has graced our screens for over three decades.
The Sonko Team rescued Mzee Ojwang, who was suffering from depression and visual impairment, and rushed him to hospital when his condition got worse.
Ojwang got into depression when he was fired from KBC together with the comedy crew where they spent almost all their lives building a career that hardly bore fruits.
Sonko sent a team of doctors and ambulances to take Mzee Ojwang to Losesho Hospital where he underwent specialized check up and treatment, including surgery, and is expected to regain his sight and health.
The Nairobi Senator also agreed to settle his hospital bill and promised to present the matter to President Uhuru Kenyatta so that the Government can take care of the veteran comedian and other Kenyan heroes who have done this country proud in various fields.
He expressed disappointment that the Government had left its heroes like Ojwang to languish in poverty.
